Do you know mushrooms will grow on books?

On the 4th of August, this quick hands-on session will talk you through the process of growing oyster mushrooms on old books. Participants will have the chance to inoculate a book that they no longer want, which will then fruit at home.

This project from Myco Manchester is a fundraiser for The PRIDE Library, hosted at the Myco Manchester farm in Platt Fields Market Garden.

What to bring

– Bring some books to inoculate with mushroom spawn! The best books to bring are thick books made from uncoated/not glossy paper – think a Harry Potter book.

– If you want to donate any political or queer books to the Pride Library, please bring them along too.
